Announcements for Sunday, October 6, 2019

Youth Group Arcade Night: Next Friday, October 11, the Youth Group will hold our annual Arcade Night outreach event. The event is a Lock-In, so students can spend the night, or may have their parents pick them up at any time. For this event we transform the church into an enormous arcade with video game consoles, a laser maze, stations for students to set up their laptops, and tons of pizza. To make this happen, we must borrow TVs and video game consoles from church members, so please consider what equipment you have that we might be able to use for the evening. We need 20 TV's, 15 video game consoles, and 5 laptop computers. We also need help setting up for the event, especially after lunch today (when we will move lots of tables and couches to the upstairs lobby), and at 9:45 pm on Thursday, Oct 10 (when we will move lots of stuff into the MPR). This is our biggest Visitor Night event of the school year. Please be thinking about who you can invite!  Please see Pastor Rich for more information, to loan your equipment, or to help with the setup.

2020 Leadership: The English Ministry Committee (EMC), which sets direction and oversees the many ministries of the English Congregation, is seeking nominations for 2020. See Weilin Koo for more information or to nominate yourself or another member.

Church Landscaping Project: Thank you for your prayers and donations toward the church landscape project. We have collected enough funds and selected a landscape contractor to install the garden. If the weather cooperates, the plan is to start mid-October and take approximately one week to complete. The parking lot will remain open during the construction.  Please contact Nelson Chueng for more details.

Sundays at Ten: Here are the upcoming topics for our weekly, large-group discussion:

  • 10/6: Ministry Support: Community Bible Study
  • 10/13: Ministry Support: Mothers of Pre-Schoolers
  • 10/20: Ministry Celebration: Discovering Our Spiritually Gifted Community
  • 10/27: Ministry Support: Awana

Come join us for lively, biblically grounded discussion over coffee in the fellowship hall.

Retreat and Budget Deficit Update: We praise God for the generous response to the Announcement regarding our Church Retreat deficit. From having around a $13,000 deficit after retreat, we are now down to a $4711 deficit. If you’d like to further ease this amount, please write “Retreat Deficit” in the memo of your check.

Additionally, we have added a new Budget line in the bulletin section under “Church Giving.” This line gives members a quick and easy glance at where our year-to-date Income sits in terms of being over or under our year-to-date Budget. For a more detailed picture of our income and expenses, please see Tina Cheng, our Church Treasurer.

Coffeen Gratitude: Thank you all for your generous wedding gift! God called us to marry at a young age and trust in his financial provision. We feel overwhelmingly loved by our wedding present. Even more so, we praise God for using NSCCC to help provide for us. A church family is a family indeed when it shows the love of Christ. Thank you for your love and care! -Calvin and Soprina Coffeen
