Adult Volunteers
Your priorities as adult volunteers (in order of importance):
-
Get to know parents (especially non-NSCCC parents). Listen to their concerns. Pray with them. Tell them about Jesus, the Bible, our youth group program, and our church. Reassure parents they are welcome to observe all youth group activities.
-
General questions: How did you find out about this church, NSCCC? Tell me about your family. What are your hopes for your child?
-
Youth Program questions: What does your child enjoy about Youth Group? What suggestion do you have for the Youth Group program?
-
Spiritual questions: What parts of the Bible have you read? What is your attitude toward Jesus of Nazareth? Are you interested in attending NSCCC on Sunday morning?
-
-
Focus students on the current youth group activity. See Student Rules page.
-
Optional: Supplement snacks and drinks for 50 people each week. Monetary donations should be given to Sylvia Chen or Joe Farley (make checks out to "NSCCC" and indicate "Youth Group" on memo line).
-
Optional: Encourage students to clean up; help the students clean up.
Friday at 7:30 - 8 pm
-
Greet parents and students as they arrive. Your priority is to spend time with parents rather than YG leaders or volunteers. If there is more than one adult volunteer, station yourselves at: (a) lobby as first priority, (b) entrance stairs as second priority, and (c) pantry or MPR as third priority.
-
Introduce new parents to YG Leaders. Let the parents know they are welcome to stay and observe.
-
Answer common questions. See FAQ page.
-
Monitor students entering/exiting the building. See Student Rules page.
Friday at 8 - 9:30 pm
-
Continue to greet parents and students as they arrive. An adult volunteer should always be in the lobby. Other adult volunteer locations are the MPR and pantry.
-
When YG activity starts, herd students to Pastor Rich's location (usually MPR).
-
After students are engaged with the YG activity, gather "free-time" athletic equipment into bins and put bins into coat closet.
-
Prepare snacks in pantry, as needed.
-
Take photos of student activities and email to Pastor Rich.
-
Help students and adults stay focused during the lesson.
Friday at 9:30 - 10 pm
-
Greet parents arriving early for pick-up. Point out where their child is and introduce them to NSCCC parents.
-
After 9:45 pm, help clean up lobby. Invite student involvement and follow instructions on information desk.
-
Before you leave, provide YG Meeting feedback to Pastor Rich. What worked well? What might benefit from changes?
-
After you leave, communicate to other parents what happened during Youth Group
